A former Canada Bread Factory, the two-storey building at 2 Fraser in Liberty Village is an entire block of buildings with entrances on both Fraser and Mowat Avenues.
Features include a green roof and exterior decks, new steel construction and a gangway that was added to a new upper level. Garage doors demise tenant spaces on the ground and second floors, and they can be opened to the interior street or, on the second floor, to the roof terrace.
A grain silo and hopper salvaged from the bread factory have been painted with commissioned mural art pieces and now stand outside the building.

Air Quality
At all York Heritage buildings, air quality is regularly assessed and compared to Canadian and international air quality standards. Ample fresh air. MERV-13 air filters are changed every six months.
Security
A fully integrated sprinkler, smoke detection, and fire alarm system are monitored by a 24-hour/7-day control centre. All exterior doors lock automatically at the close of each working day. After-hours entry is restricted to authorized personnel with access cards. Visitor access, after-hours, is enabled by tele-entry system. A monitoring service and guard patrol add to our over-all security.
Property Management
We are responsible for the quality of maintenance and repair of our lobbies, corridors, windows and other public areas...and we care very much. If anything is not working properly, we respond to the call. Chances are, we'll not just send a repair person, we'll accompany them.
BOMA Best – We have achieved BOMA Best certification across the York Heritage portfolio. This is a national green building certification program that sets standards for energy and environmental performance.
Reputation
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, our tenants recommend us. If you have not had the opportunity to compare their responses with responses from tenants in competing buildings, we urge you to do so now. The approval of our tenants is your best assurance that in choosing a York Heritage building, you’ve made the right decision.

Building History
For over a half century, the smell of freshly baked bread wafted through the air of Liberty Village from 2 Fraser Avenue. Originally part of the Grand Trunk Railway lands, the site was home to Henry Disston & Sons, an American supplier of hand saws and industrial saw blades, which operated from circa 1910 to circa 1955.
By 1960, the property was owned by the Canada Bread Company. Sliced loaves of Dempster’s Bread and English muffins were baked in the factory’s ovens and rolled out on bread conveyors.
The building also contained silos, storage areas, and offices. In 2012, the building was decommissioned and subsequently retrofitted by York Heritage Properties and Adgar Investments and Developments Ltd.
Today, the building is home to Vena Solutions and Joe Fresh, and there are currently more than 750 people working in the building.
As a salute to its past, the complex has been renamed The Bakery.
